We reported this on Tuesday on Catch Daily, Sami Zayn mentioned the name of the AEW during the last episode of WWE RAW. This mention was made during the talk show “Electric Chair” presented by Corey Graves.

As we had previously explained to you and according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, this sentence was said by Zayn scripted. However, according to his colleague Bryan Alvarez, this is not the case. PWInsider also released a report in support of Alvarez’s comments, explaining that this mention of the AEW was indeed not foreseen by officials.

PWInsider adds that the WWE did not censor the phrase during the show. Although it’s a live one, WWE has 15 seconds to cut or censor anything that could potentially be a problem for them. It is therefore intriguing that the sentence pronounced by Zayn was not cut off before airing.

Alvarez added a few things to the story, saying Vince McMahon was furious when Zayn said the name of the AEW. He explains that several people in-house insist that Zayn was given the go-ahead by officials to mention the rival company. One of these people would have explained that this mention was written in the script of the show on Monday morning.

However, other sources (many more) say the opposite, saying it was not supposed to be said. According to other people who work internally, Vince McMahon would have been furious when the name was pronounced by Zayn. According to them, Vince’s anger was real and not just to make staff believe that it was not planned.

Although the situation is very blurry as you can see, it is possible that Sami Zayn will receive some sort of punishment in the coming days or weeks. For Dave Meltzer, it is possible that the Superstar is suspended. We should have more information about the situation in the coming days.
