The WWE Hall of Famer Edge made his surprise return to the ring during the men’s Royal Rumble Match, almost 9 years after retiring due to a dangerous injury. Now, a few hours after his return, there are already new details about him and his future in WWE.
According to several international websites, Edge signed a new WWE contract in late 2019 and continued for three years. According to some journalists with sources inside WWE, it is a contract quite different from other company legends and “Rated R Superstar ” also probed all Elite Wrestling before signing for a large fee with Vince McMahon’s company.
As far as the future use Edge will make of his return to the ring, it is to be believed that we will not have “Rated R Superstar” fighting in the weekly programs, but only in the important events. In other words, it could have a schedule similar to Brock Lesnar‘s or even less.
It is still too early to see whether Edge’s return to singles matches will only take place at WrestleMania 36 or at Super Showdown, which will take place in late February in Saudi Arabia. Either way, Randy Orton appears to be the most likely competitor for the first “Rated R Superstar” opponent upon his return, after he eliminated him in the men’s Royal Rumble Match.
